The Football Development and Education programme, for male and female students is an ideal opportunity for any young player interested in developing their skills alongside study and career options.

At Bishop Laney Sixth Form, we work in partnership with the Norwich City FC Regional Development team to provide an exciting opportunity which allows you to continue your academic education, without limiting your subject choices while also progressing your footballing career.

If you wish to take part in the programme as part of your study at Bishop Laney Sixth Form; you should include it as one of the course choices in your application alongside your subject course selections.

The aim is to create a positive, challenging and supportive elite learning environment; which develops creative and independent decision makers, on and off the pitch. You will be able to study for any of the full range of courses whilst UEFA B coaches will train you in the Norwich City Way.

You will also have the opportunity to gain their coaching qualifications as part of the course. At the end of the programme, you will have the opportunity to take part in exit trials to help you find clubs or attract further scholarships to continue your football development following the course.

The programme includes an optional but valuable pre-season programme from late June 2020.

Details will be available following a successful trial.

How will it be delivered?

As part of the programme, you will take part in training or competitive games on 4 out of 5 days of the week, working with UEFA Licensed coaches for approximately eight hours a week. On the programme, you will represent Norwich City FC RDP in the Under 19s Youth Alliance & English College League and Cup competitions, as well as playing regular events at Carrow Park with partner schemes at the Community Sports Foundation (CSF) in Norfolk.

Entry requirements

You need to attend a Norwich City FC trial, on the published dates during the preceding academic year. Please see the upcoming events calendar for current trial dates.

Following a successful trial, you will be accepted onto the programme subject to a successful application for a study programme at the College. Courses which make up study programmes have their own entry requirements, which are available for browsing on this site.
