Course Summary
Our new level 1 in art and design is the perfect introduction to creative arts if you're curious, eager and ready to bring your ideas to life. It's about gaining confidence and discovering what you're passionate about artistically.
Course Details
This course gives you the chance to try out different areas of art and design so you can find what you enjoy and build confidence in your creative skills ready to progress further at CWA. You'll work on practical projects that introduce you to techniques, processes and ways of working that are used in industry.
What will I do on this course?
On this course, you will:
- Explore different materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles and 3D work
- Learn digital skills by trying photography, animation and using design software.
- Work on creative projects from start to finish, developing ideas, experimenting, and producing final outcomes.
- Record your progress in sketchbooks, portfolios or digital formats, showing how your ideas develop over the year and present a final piece at the CWA Art Exhibition at the end of the year!
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your tutor will assess you through the projects you complete throughout the year.
Entry requirements
Whilst there are no general grade entry requirements for our level 1 programmes, you will be expected to show:
- A good attitude towards learning and a willingness
to progress, including in English and Maths (if
applicable) - A keen interest in the subject and a commitment to
working hard
We will invite you to attend an information session and applicant experience day (if you have been offered a place before May) before you start your course to help ensure that this is the best course for you.
