Course Summary

This course will introduce students to the critical study and interpretation of written and spoken texts from a wide range of literary and non-literary genres. Students will formally analyse texts, and in doing so, will increase their awareness of the fluidity of meaning within a text, and how these changes depending on the producer and the consumer. Students will explore the use and development of the English language, through an examination of its different forms, such as its media forms and functions, and its literature. Students will develop key skills in critical literacy and textual analysis, as well as the ability to present their ideas effectively.
