Course Summary

The Cambridge Advanced National in Applied Science is a practical, Level 3 qualification that develops students’ scientific knowledge, laboratory skills and ability to apply science to real-world situations. It is well suited to students considering careers or higher education in science, healthcare, engineering and related fields.

This course is different from A Levels in Science because 40% of the course is examined through coursework. The course therefore combines external examinations with practical, internally assessed work, giving students the opportunity to develop both academic understanding and hands-on scientific skills. The course structure can be seen below:

• F182 – Investigating Science: Planning and carrying out an independent scientific investigation, analysing results and evaluating findings.
