Students should submit applications by 19 December 2025.

Applications will remain open throughout the year and late applications will be considered; however, students should be aware that they may not receive their preferred choices if a late application is received.

Once applications have been received, all applicants will be invited for an interview to discuss their application and ensure that their subject choices are suitable.

Chemistry A Level builds on content studied at GCSE and is clearly divided into three areas of chemistry; physical, inorganic and organic. This organisation of topics is particularly useful for students wanting to further study chemistry at university.

Chemistry is a practical subject and throughout the course experimental work is integrated with theoretical concepts. There is also an emphasis on mathematical skills and data analysis, which students with a strong foundation in maths will enjoy.

5 GCSE passes at grade 5 or above including English. You will need a grade 6 in Chemistry and a grade 6 in Mathematics.

A Level Chemistry is a demanding but rewarding subject which, either as a standalone subject or when combined with other science subjects, opens doors to so many career opportunities in traditional fields such as medicine, pharmacy, research and the pharmaceutical industry and provides transferable skills in the areas of maths, business and law.
